Guns for Fire

I’m sure everyone and their dog have heard of the debate on gun control in the United States. I don’t normally like to involve myself in politics but I can honestly say that this is going way to far.
Now don’t get me wrong, I do think guns are dangerous. When put into the right hands it can cause damage to the community, but that doesn’t mean taking away one of our rights is going to stop people from finding other ways to get to the same conclusion. I personally don’t think taking away specific gun rights and making it harder to obtain a gun will take away the violence in the country.
Ask yourself this, what is illegal in this country? The first thing that comes to my mind is drugs. Specifically speaking, I think of marijuana. I’m not saying in any way that I encourage drug use, but does its illegalization stop people from using it? I personally believe it doesn’t. They normally just find others who are selling it illegally. So think of it this way. If guns become illegal, those who are good citizens and follow the law will follow protocol and either take the proper steps to owning a gun, or completely rid themselves of guns. However, like drugs there will be some people who may sell guns illegally causing those who may not qualify for a gun to be able to buy a gun. Now this person not only has a gun that they can use to harm others, but the money for the gun is most likely not going through the American economy. And imagine if they do use the gun for the wrong reasons. The police will have no way of tracking the owner of the gun because it was not legally obtained.
Also, do we not have a right given to use by our founding fathers that states, we have the “right to bear arms?” I’m pretty sure we do. It’s a little something called the second amendment. Now I can completely understand Obama’s feelings on gun control. He is concerned for our safety. After the scare in Connecticut, the shooting in the elementary school, I can understand his concern. I personally have a close friend whose niece died in the shooting and it was hard for me to see him go through that. However, he has learned to forgive what happened and does not blame the use of guns at all. However, Instead of blaming the health of the perpetrator, Obama blames the access to a gun that he had. His concerns make sense but his logic isn’t complete. Even if the man did not have a gun he may have found other ways to harm those around him.
Guns kill people. False, people kill people and I believe with or without a gun they will try to find a way to kill them if that is there end goal. Think of it this way, If you wanted to eat your peas with a spoon but don’t have one, you would probably just pick up a fork. You may even just use your hands. You just need to eat your peas. Taking away gun rights is not going to stop violence in people. If they feel the need to threaten another’s life they can easily pick another weapon. The game “Clue” gives a plethora of different objects; candle stick, rope, wrench, lead pipe.
I don’t think Obama placing new regulations on obtaining a gun will stop violence in the country. He looks at guns as a dangerous thing but I can guarantee that there is a gun near him everyday that protects him from other people.
