Adam, Hamlet, Edward, and Frankenstein

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley can be related to many different works of literature. Shelley tells a story filled with the trials of rejection and lost feeling. The story can be related to the biblical story of the creation. The rage of the monster is relatable to the rage of Hamlet in the book Hamlet by William Shakespeare. His rejection by society is related to Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands. Shelley wrote a story that not only related to those in the past, but also influenced stories to come.
One story that can be related to the story Frankenstein is the biblical story of creation. In the creation of earth, God created man and woman, Adam and Eve. After disobeying a commandment by god, they were cast from the Garden of Eden, left with the trials and tempting’s on earth. Dr. Frankenstein uses his scientific capabilities to create life. Although he has created it, he fears it. The monster runs away from his creator. He becomes educated but after being mocked and scorned, starts seeking revenge. He ends up killing those close to his creator. This can be related to the story of creation because like god, Frankenstein has created life. Also, the people god has so willingly given life, sometimes turn against him through trials. The monster did just this; he threatened his creator and shamed him.
Another book that is closely related to Frankenstein is Hamlet by William Shakespeare. In Hamlet, revenge is very important. The young Hamlet is to avenge his father’s death after being killed by his brother. Hamlet was close to his family and he is devastated to find that the man who was to marry his mother killed his father. Through rage he even kills a close family friend. Like in Hamlet, revenge is a prominent theme. Frankenstein’s monster seeks revenge on him for refusing to create a female partner for him. He is alone and will not allow Frankenstein to be happy while he is miserable. Through rage he kills those Frankenstein loves.
Lastly, The story is closely related to that of Tim Burton’s Edward Scissorhands. Just like Frankenstein’s monster, a scientist created Edward. He was created and forced to use scissors for hands due to the scientist’s death. Edward faces the disapproval by society because he has scissors for hands. Many misunderstood him because they didn’t take the time to get to know him. Frankenstein’s monster went through the similar thing. He was not accepted by society as well due to his appearance. In heart he was a kind being but nobody took the time to get to know him. People judged both Frankenstein’s monster and Edward Scissorhands by their appearance instead of who they were on the inside.
Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is closely related to other works of literature. Through different themes and allusions, she is also able to influence later works.

Frankenstein

My all time favorite book is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Personally, I am one to analyze and compare different aspects in literature. In Frankenstein this is especially easy due to the extensive use of symbolism. One of these symbols is the hand and the strength and power the hand has. She uses it to explain the way it can not only destroy, but also create. She also describes many situations, that can be related to biblical stories. Her writing is clear and easy to understand, leaving room for deeper analysis. Her extensive use of vocabulary also contributes to the book as a whole. It allows her reading to be more enjoyable. I am also very intrigues at the age Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein. She was the age of eighteen at the time and was able to write a story that would be passed down for generations. Frankenstein is my favorite book.

Love Poem

I will be truthful
I will care
I will be kind
I will be there

My Sister

If I could change one thing in my life it would be my relationship with my older sister. We have never gotten along the way I wish we had. When we were little she would often exclude me from specific events and would even go as far as not inviting me to he birthday. She would also allow my younger sister to hand out with her and her friends. At one point a situation like this occurred. My younger sister and I wanted to hang out with my older sister and her friend. She locked us out of her room, but later invited my little sister in. I was left to play with my dog in the backyard. I’ve always wished that my sister and I would have a fun relationship. The type of older sister, younger sister relationship you see in movies. If I could go back and change my relationship with my sister I would. Thankfully we now get along, we just have a difficult past.

Best Movie

The greatest film of all time would have to be Nacho Libre. Its childish humor makes it a great movie for not only children, but adults as well. This family film has many lines that can be quoted, and are quoted by many. I personally hear and say quotes from this movie often. It’s humor is however not loveable to all. Some may consider its plot to be stupid and dumb but they are wrong. Nacho Libre tells a story of a man who wants to help those around him. In doing so he chases a dream and doesn’t let it go like many others in the world do. He sticks with his gals in order to help the orphan children. Nacho Libre is not only a fun family movie, but a inspirational one as well.

Cookies and Cream

The best Ice cream in the world is cookies and cream. I believe Ice cream should stay basic with a small emphasis on one flavor. I absolutely hate it when Ice cream is overloaded with chocolates, camels and fruits.
Now, its no question that it is the best flavor of ice cream when you realize it contains Oreo’s. Oreo’s are considered “milk’s favorite cookie”.” There is something about the way the cream and cookie combine to form the perfect taste. It has the crunch of the cookie and the smoothness of the frosting.
When you put Oreos with ice cream it is the absolute best flavor. It is a simple vanilla taste with the rich, indulgent flavor of the chocolate cookie. It emphasizes to the ice cream. Not to mention, ice cream is made from milk and Oreo is “milks favorite cookie.”
Oreos are almost an addiction for me as is ice cream. When you combine the two, it becomes the perfect snack.
